Aldo Bon Large Murano Red & Amber Sommerso Glass Fish Sculpture

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian large glass fish sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. In a stunning combination of red glass encased in amber glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique. Made by the Vetreria Artigiana Aldo Bon factory, and still bears the original factory label (worn) which reads "Murano, A Bon". This glassworks was setup by Aldo Bon and Adriano Quarisa in 1960, and was apparently only open for a short time. Aldo Bon was previously a master glassblower at Aureliano Toso where he produced designs by Dino Martens.

Size

Measures approx 4.25 inches tall by 14 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a very slight roughness to the tip of the "nose", probably from when it was pinched and shaped during manufacture, see final picture.
