Arte Nuova Murano Pink & Uranium Sommerso Glass Bowl

Description

A Venetian large and heavy (1.8kg unpacked) organic glass sculpture bowl, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Most likely made by Arte Nuova in the 1950's/60's, unmarked. In a stunning combination of pink glass cased in uranium yellow green glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. The small amounts of Uranium in the glass cause this bowl to glow a brilliant bright green in UV light.

Measures approx 5 inches tall by 18 inches in diameter at widest point.
