Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Still has the original label, a little worn, which reads "G Fort, Vetri Molati, Murano Venezia". Presumably, G Fort refers to Gino Fort, who was one of the original founders of the Gino Cenedese glassworks. Vetri Molati is Italian for "ground glass", a reference to the grinding process used to create this style. In a stunning combination of purple glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 6.25 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a couple of minor surface scratches to one side, shown in final picture.
