Arte Nuova Pustetto & Zanetti Murano Pink & Uranium Sommerso Glass Bowl

Description

This is a magnificent 1950/60's Venetian sculptural glass ashtray bowl, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. In a stunning combination of pink glass encased in uranium yellow glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique. Glows bright green in UV light. Made by Arte Nuova / Pustetto & Zanetti, and still bears the very worn remains of the original factory label, which would have read "Arte Nuova Murano, Grand Prize, Genuine Venetian Glass, World Fair Brussels 1958". The factory was open only for a relatively short time, from 1954 to 1965.
