Arte Nuova Pustetto & Zanetti Murano Blue & Uranium Sommerso Glass Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful large and heavy (2.2kg unpacked) Venetian organic glass sculpture vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Arte Nuova in the 1950's/60's, unmarked. Other examples from this range can be found online, sometimes baring labels which read "Arte Nuova Murano, Grand Prize, Genuine Venetian Glass, World Fair Brussels 1958". Other examples have a label which reads "Arte Nuova Murano, Pustetto & Zanetti, Made in Italy". The factory was open only for a relatively short time, from 1954 to 1965. In a stunning combination of blue glass encased in uranium yellow glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique. Glows bright green in UV light.

Size

Measures approx 12.5 inches tall by 7 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks other than a couple of tiny fleabites and minor surface scratches to one side of the rim of the "bowl" section, and a couple of tiny nicks to the base rim, all shown in final pictures. I've also included a close up of the top section, where the two pulled out sections were re-joined during the manufacturing process. The line between them may look a bit like a crack in the photos, but this is not the case (easier to see "in the flesh").
