Description
A stunning Victorian 1890's British glass posy vase with an eight way crimped rim. Made by John Walsh Walsh from Birmingham, England, part of their Opaline Brocade pattern range. This pattern is referred to as Spanish Lace by collectors in the USA. A vase from this range is shown in the book Victorian Decorative Glass by Mervyn Gulliver, page 90. Made in vaseline/uranium glass, which glows bright green in UV light. Ground and polished concave pontil mark to the base. Please note: Although this vase is obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, it is still classed as a vase. Small vases like this were often used to hold flower heads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.
Please note: the plastic stand is for display purposes only and is not included.
Size
Measures approx 3.25 inches tall by 3.5 inches in diameter at widest point.Condition
Has some chipping to part of the rim, shown in final picture.John Walsh Walsh Glass On Ebay
