Monart AF.VI Scottish Orange & Black Aventurine Glass Bowl

Description

A Monart large orange and black mottled glass bowl with copper aventurine. Made by the Scottish Moncrieff's factory in the 1930's/40's, pattern number AF.VI. Breaking the pattern number down, AF is the shape number, and VI is the size. No marks or labels, but this distinctive pattern and colourway is shown in the Monart section of the excellent book "Ysart Glass", page 57. The bowl shape is shown in the Monart catalogue reprints on page 180. the distinctive base finish, with ground outer rim, is shown and identified as a Monart only feature on page 51.

Size

Measures approx 4 inches tall by 7.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks, but does have several small surface scratches to the outside, shown in final pictures.
