Thomas Webb Pair of Victorian Burmese Uranium Glass Vases

Product Number: WS13875

 Sold / Reference

Description

A wonderful pair of 1890's Victorian Stourbridge glass vases. Made in pink + creamy yellow burmese glass, with vertical ribbing. Most likely by the British firm Thomas Webb & Sons. Small amounts of uranium in the glass cause them to glow bright green in UV light.

Please note:I bought these as a pair and am selling as a pair, but like any hand make glass, they are each unique, in particular the vertical ribbing is more defined on one vase compared to the other, see final picture.

Please note:  Although these vases are obviously too small to hold a bunch of flowers, they are still classed as a vase.  Small vases like this were often used to hold flowerheads, or miniature "sweetpea" flowers, or simply used as decorative ornaments.

Size

Measure approx 3.75 inches tall by 2.5 inches in diameter at widest point.
