Chinese Murano Style Purple & Blue Sommerso Glass Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful large and heavy (1.6 kg unpacked) purple, blue and clear glass vase with controlled bubble effect. Easily mistaken for Murano glass, indeed some sellers would like you to believe as such, but this beautiful, high quality, impressive piece was actually made in China. This design originally surfaced as a range of vases, bowls and candle holders, with the brand name "Star", by designer Julien Macdonald, and was sold in Debenhams department stores in the UK. In a stunning combination of purple and blue glass encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique, with applied thick clear strapping on the sides.

Size

Measures approx 7.75 inches tall by 5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a couple of minor surface scratches, and a dimpled area to the side of the base rim, which could be from the manufacturing process or later minor restoration if a chip was polished out, difficult to know for sure. Shown in final picture.
