Description
Here is a one off, rare item that you will likely never see again! A large and very heavy (2.5kg unpacked) 1950's Venetian glass sculptural slab, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by Galliano Ferro, and still bears the original factory label. In a stunning combination of large multicoloured millefiori canes, twisted white zanfirico filigree and coloured ribbons, and silver leaf inclusions, all on a red core and encased in a thick lilac glass slab.I'm reliably informed that this iconic item was originally on the door of a town hall in Bradford, England, in the 1950's, either as a large ornate door handle, or decorative ornament. At some point after it was removed, it has had a wooden base added in order to display it better.
