Arte Nuova Pustetto & Zanetti Murano Blue & Green Sommerso Glass Sculpture

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian organic glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy.  Made by Arte Nuova in the 1950's/60's, unmarked. Other examples from this range can be found online, sometimes baring labels which read "Arte Nuova Murano, Grand Prize, Genuine Venetian Glass, World Fair Brussels 1958". Other examples have a label which reads "Arte Nuova Murano, Pustetto & Zanetti, Made in Italy".  The factory was open only for a relatively short time, from 1954 to 1965. In a stunning combination of blue glass encased in green glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the Venetian developed sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 8.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks. The end of the pulled up section at the top is possibly slightly mis-shaped - this could just be how it was made at the factory, or could be the result of later minor restoration.
