Here is a wonderful large and heavy (1.5kg unpacked) 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. These bowls were made by several manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso and Cenedese.  Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina.  In a stunning combination of red glass cased in amber glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Please note:  the plastic stand is for display purposes only and is not included.

Measures approx 2.75 inches tall by 6 inches in diameter at widest point.

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just a slight bevelling to the rim, possibly a sign of very minor restoration, as the remains of a couple of tiny fleabites can also be spotted, all shown in final pictures. Impossible to know if this was done at the factory or later.
