SIGNED AVEM Murano Striped Glass Silver Leaf Paperweight

Description

Here is an exquisite 1950/60's Venetian glass paperweight, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese), and signed to the base "A.V.E.M". I thought the signature was a little odd at first (I normally see it written "AVEM or "A.Ve.M."), but this is also the way their original catalogues were marked, as shown in the book "AVEM, Arte Vetraria Muranese, Artistic Production 1932 - 1972" by Marc Heiremans. Decorated with silver leaf, and alternating stripes of red, blue, green and yellow.

Measures approx 2.25 inches tall by 2.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
