Murano/Sommerso Faceted Uranium Glass Block Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This style of glassware is usually attributed to Mandruzzato, although other manufacturers have made similar items, including Oball, Campanella and V Nason. In a stunning combination of green glass cased in vaseline/uranium yellow glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. The small amounts of Uranium in the glass cause this vase to glow a brilliant bright green in UV light.

Measures approx 5.25 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, other than a couple of really minute fleabites to the inside rim, and a tiny, faint bruise mark to one side, all shown in final pictures.
