The Nazeing glassworks was founded in 1928, in Hertfordshire, England, by Richard Kempton. When Richard left in 1932, he sold his shares in the company to John Ismay, who became the new owner a few years later. John's purpose for buying the factory was to produce lightbulbs for Woolworths. He appointed Malcolm Pollock-Hill as director, and later sold the factory to Malcolm in 1936. Nazeing are probably best known by collectors for their range of clouded, coloured glass bowls and vases, similar to designs by Whitefriars and Monart. The Nazeing factory was later run by Malcolm's son, Stephen Pollock-Hill, until it's closure in September 2023.
