Murano Geode Blue Sommerso Glass Figure Eight Bowl

Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. These bowls were made by several manufacturers, including Archimede Seguso and Cenedese. Very similar items by these makers are shown in the book Italian Glass: Century 20 by Leslie Pina. In a stunning combination of deep blue glass encased in pale blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 2 inches tall by 4.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a couple of tiny fleabites to the rim, and a trail of small dots to one side (I'm not sure what they are exactly), all shown in final pictures.
