Description

Here is a wonderful 1950/60's Venetian glass 'geode' bowl/dish, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by Seguso Dalla Venezia and still bears the original factory label. In a stunning combination of deep blue glass cased in a band of paler blue glass, which is further encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. Seguso Dalla Venezia was founded around 1949-51 by Francesco Martinuzzi and Guido Seguso (previously both partners of Seguso Vetri d'Arte), and possibly others. According to the very limited information found online, the factory was open until around 1965. Other workers at the factory include Pietro Scaramal, Elio Raffaeli, Lucio Fontana and Gino Salmistrari.

Measures approx 1.25 inches tall by 3.75 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks.
