Murano Faceted Red & Blue Sommerso Glass Block Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful Venetian glass triangular vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. In a stunning combination of red glass cased in a band of blue glass, which is further encased in an angular block of clear glass, using the renowned Venetian Sommerso technique.

Several Murano factories have made sommerso glassware in this faceted style, including Mandruzzato, Bucella Cristalli, Campanella, Oball, and V. Nason. Like with most sommerso glass, many inexperienced or untrustworthy sellers would attribute this to a Flavio Poli design for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, but there is no evidence that SVA ever made these (none shown in their factory catalogues, and none found with their labels) and plenty of evidence that other factories did. If other sellers that often make this mistake read this, please, fix your descriptions, and stop misleading your buyers.

Measures approx 6.75 inches tall by 2.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

No chips or cracks other than a couple of tiny fleabites to the rim, and one of the narrow sides seems to have a less shiny polished finished than the others (but no signs of any restoration), depending on how the light hits it.
