Arte Nuova Pustetto & Zanetti Murano Zanfirico Glass Clown

Description

Here is a Venetian glass clown sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. Made by Arte Nuova in the 1950's/60's. The remains of their factory label are present, but this is very worn. It would originally have read "Arte Nuova Murano, Grand Prize, Genuine Venetian Glass, World Fair Brussels 1958". The factory was open only for a relatively short time, from 1954 to 1965. Decorated with silver leaf, patches of copper aventurine, white zanfirico lattice filigree, twisted ribbon canes, and millefiori canes.
