Description

A wonderful Victorian pressed glass posy trough, made in blue milk glass (also known as vitro-porcelain glass. Made by British company Sowerby in the 1880's, and bears their trademark of a peacock on the base. This design, pattern number 1219 is shown on page 3 of Sowerby's Illustrated Pattern Book No IX, issued in June 1882, and is known as "Elizabeth, Elspeth, Betty & Bess", after Walther Crane's illustrations in a childrens nursery rhymes book. This particular colour range was called Turquoise.

Size

Measures approx 2.5 inches tall by 6.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

There is a chip to one corner of the rim, shown in final picture, and a few manufacturing flaws in the glass.
