Description

This is a magnificent 1950/60's Venetian glass sculpture of two birds in a nest, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy, by Archimede Seguso, signed to base. This piece is made in very unusual and quite rare neodymium glass (also known as alexandrite glass), which changes colour according to different lighting conditions!! It appears pink in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky blue in fluorescent/white light (see pictures)!This is due to the presence of neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass.

Size

Measures approx 3.25 inches tall by 4.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just an open air bubble on the base, shown in final picture.
