Zelezny Brod Czech Neodymium Pink Glass Dog - Label

Description

A stunning Czech glass dog sculpture, made in very unusual and quite rare neodymium glass (also known as alexandrite glass), which changes colour according to different lighting conditions!! The dog appears pink in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky lilac in fluorescent/white light (see pictures).This is due to the presence of neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass. Made by the Zelezny Brod glassworks, also known as Železnobrodské Sklo (ZBS), and still bears the original factory labels.

Size

Measures approx 4.75 inches tall by 3.5 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Has a tiny fracture or flaw in the tail, where it meets the body of the dog, shown in final picture, and probably caused during the manufacturing process.
