Murano Sommerso Vintage Turquoise & Green Glass Bottle Vase

Description

A magnificent, heavy (2kg unpacked) Venetian glass bottle vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. I have been unable to find another like this while researching, so I'm not sure of the maker, but my best guess would be Oball. The quality is amazing, and there is plenty of age related base wear, so although I don't know the exact age, it appears to be vintage. Made in a stunning combination of turquoise glass encased in green glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique. May originally have had a matching stopper at some point, but if so this was purely decorative, as there is no grinding to the inside rim to give a tight seal, and there is not even the slightest bit of wear to the perfectly finished rim. The vase has no uranium content, it does not glow under UV light.

Measures approx 6 inches tall by 5.25 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a couple of minute fleabites to the base rim, shown in final picture.
