Large Murano/Sommerso Faceted Glass Block Vase

Description

Here is a wonderful large Venetian glass vase, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. This style of glassware is usually attributed to Mandruzzato, although other manufacturers have made similar items, including Oball, Campanella and V Nason. In a stunning combination of turquoise glass cased in a band of amber glass, which is further encased in an angular block of blue glass, using the renowned Venetian sommerso technique.

Size

Measures approx 8.5 inches tall by 2 inches in diameter at widest point.

Condition

Excellent condition, no chips or cracks other than a small nick tot he rim and another to the base. Also mentioned for accuracy is some rounding to the corners, which may be the result of restoration, but I suspect the vase was made this way as it is very well done. All shown in final pictures.
