Back to Glass Encyclopedia Home
In 1805, Carl Stölzle founded two glass factories in Austria. By 1867, Stölzle owned 7 factories, in Austria, Bohemia and Hungary. The Heřmanova Hut' factory was founded in 1907. It was this factory that produced most of the art deco glassware featured in this section. In 1965, the Heřmanova Hut' factory became part of the Sklo Union group. Designers at the factory at this time include Vaclav Hanus, Pavel Panek, Frantisek Peceny, Vladislav Urban, Frantisek Vizner, and Frantisek Zemek. Production at Hermanova ceased in 2002. The Stölzle company has changed name and ownership several times, and is still in operation today, under the name Stölzle-Oberglas.
